Shot Type Analysis

Close Up 

The close up; often used in Movies, Television. a camera shot taken at avery short distance from the subject, to permit a close and detailed view of an object or action.

The medium close up shot shows the artist up from the bottom of their chest which shows a part of the outfit that they are wearing giving a slight insight into their style. However due to the cropped out nature of the picture the reader is left wanting to see more; this will later be revealed on the double page spread. On this cover the hint of the lavish sofa and the gold chains imply to the reader that the artist is powerful and in control. the fact that he has a trowel in his mouth suggests that he is quirky and not as serious as you might expect

Medium Close Up

Mid Shot

The Mid Shot is possibly the most common shot used on the cover of magazines. this is because it show the artist from the waist upwards; allowing the facial expressions, clothing, and props to be displayed in, giving and insight in to how the artist wants to represent themselves. The artist usually. Tyler, The Creator is 

Group Shot

The Group Shot is possibly the most common shot used when capturing a band or more than two people on the cover of a magazine. This is because it captures everyone involved and allows the reader to see all key aspects and people in the picture.
