Cover

This magazine cover looks simplistic and refined with a black and white image of Paul McCartney on white background and a slight shadow outlining him creating a gradient. Behind Paul’s head there is the masterhead of the magazine “Mojo.” The graphics for the masterhead are bold black writing with a grey outline that makes it look three-dimensional and it also has a shadow in the background. From the mid to bottom right hand side and on the bottom left hand side there are the various titles of the articles inside the magazine ranging from black to red to a silver/grey.  Across the top there is a banner with two pictures of musicians that are featured inside and a special offer that the s exclusive to the magazine.

The main image on the front cover is a large black and white mid shot of Paul McCartney pointing slightly off from the camera. The fact that he is black and white  fits in with the house style of his feature could suggest that he has become a timeless icon. The lure states that, “Paul gets personal”, further supports this. The fact that they have not used a last name or any indication as to who he is apart from his first name and a plain picture suggests that he is world renowned and that they expect anyone who reads this magazine to

know who he is; Paul

McCartney from the Rolling

Stones. The magazine knows

that their target audience

would know who this is.

The Title of the magazine is a clean and refined black print in all capitals spelling “MOJO.” It has a three-dimensional affect by using grey lines on some edges and it also has a shadow in the background that gradually fades out in the same way that the shadow around Paul fades out creating a correlation between the main image and the title. This correlation is then further reinforced by the jet black of the title matching the jet black of Paul’s outfit.

The top images consist of two head shots of musicians that they have interviewed inside, an advertisement for a "FREE powerpop CD" and three heading titles depicting what the reader would find inside. The intention of including the advertisement is to try and entice the reader into picking their magazine over any of the their rivals who produce the same genre or to convince new readers to buy it.
